So Dave went out of town Wednesday for business and I went to a "tent" meeting at a friend's church that didn't get over until about 9:15. When I came home, I was ready for bed. So I moved the decorative pillow and was about to pull back the comforter when I looked down and there was a lizard. My first thought was Oh, Dave must have left it there as a joke to scare me. Almost instantaneously I thought, no, Dave never plays jokes on me and I realized that it was a real, live, breathing lizard.
Well, well, well, what do I do now. Touching it was out of the question. I knew that as soon as I picked it up and it squirmed, I would be throwing it somewhere. So, I went to the kitchen and brought back a plastic container with the lid. I covered it up, but the lid wasn't flat so when I put the lid under it, it crawled away, further into the bedding. So for the two nights that Dave was gone, I slept in our guest room. Now for all of the logical people out there, I realize that the lizard could crawl back to the other bedroom, it just made me feel better to be as far away from the lizard as possible. Also as a side note, I kinda like lizards, they are pretty and they eat bugs, I just don't like them in my house, on my bed! As soon as Dave walked through the door on Friday around noon, he went into the bedroom to look for it and lo and behold it was still on top of the comforter, but in the middle of the bed. Honestly I couldn't believe that it was still there. What's it been doing? Dave took the same plastic container, but since I had two days to think through it, I handed him a cutting board to use as a lid. Within seconds, the lizard was contained and Dave was heading out the back door with the lizard. My only request at that point was that he put him in the grass not on the back deck. My knight in shining armor had saved me from a 5 inch reptile.
