There were seven in our party as we entered the theater. Evelyn had watched it earlier in the day with girlfriends, but was game to go back with us in the evening. Miracles from Heaven is based on a true story and knowing that made it all the more interesting.
I thought that it would be funny, but in reality, I left the movie sad. Of course there were a few funny parts, but not nearly as many as I expected. War makes me sad. A lot of bad things happen in war. The main characters life was sad. It seems that I am on a bad streak for picking movies, the last three or four that I picked, I didn't like.
For our Tuesday night date night, we chose an action Flick. I really could sum up this review in one word: VIOLENT. Yes, I know that action films are violent, but this seemed to have more violence than some others that I have seen. The storyline was interesting, the bad guy had hatched a plan to get all of the world leaders of the West to come to London at one time so that he could take them out.
I did not become a James Bond fan until they cast Pierce Brosnan in the Bond role. Since then, Dave and I have watched all of the Bond movies and a couple weeks ago we caught the latest one in theater. I like Daniel Craig as Bond. The storyline of this one made me sad as Bond discovered that a childhood friend had been sabotaging his life and killing those close to him. I enjoyed the movie and loved that Judy Dench made an appearance, well sort of, in this movie. I liked that M and Q had bigger role than in previous movies. Probably not the best Bond movie, but it was entertaining.
It was interesting for me to read the reviews on this movie written by non-Christians. There was no appreciation for the power of prayer to an Almighty God and an obvious disbelief in what the producers of the movie were trying to convey. From my perspective, the movie was spot on in challenging the audience to deal more intentionally with their belief in God and the power of prayer. There were several powerful lines in the movie that reminded the viewer that each of has a personal relationship with God and a responsibility to God to let Him be Lord of our lives. One thing that I always appreciate about the Kendrick brother movies is that they always are humorous.
