This is my favorite book of 2019 so far and I liked it so much that I am nominating it as one of my three suggestions for my book club the next time that we choose books. This is historical fiction based on a man living in Seattle in 1986 and flash backs to 1942 when Japaneese Americans were rounded up and sent to internment camps. The 1942 storyline focuses on his unexpected friendship with an American girl of Japanese descent.
The main character struggles with his traditional Chinese father and his father's hatred for everything Japanese. This is a story of friendship and love and has some unexpected plot twists and a great ending.
