A friend asks me to give him a list of books to order for my birthday. This was one of the books on my list. Shonda Rhimes is the creator of Grey's Anatomy and Scandel. I had heard of this book and how this year of Yes had changed her life. I was curious about it. Rhimes is an extremely funny and obviously gifted writer as her shows have all been hits and she is the main writer. She is able to express in words what one is thinking, but doesn't know how to articulate.
She has adopted three girls as a single woman and has no interest in marriage. Her belief system is polar opposite of mine, but many of her experiences as a woman we share in common. It was encouraging to see how she was challenged to think about her life and decide if that was the way she wanted it to be or if she was simply settling for what was comfortable. The Year came and went, but she continued with the positive changes and in her words leads a much happier life now. The book was an interesting read that made me reflect on areas in my own life that I would like to change.
